In 2026, Demis Visvikis celebrates his 75th anniversary. A composer whose destiny bridges Greece and France, his musical journey spans from the high-voltage progressive rock scene of the 70s to profound symphonic canvases.
Born in Cairo and educated at the National Conservatory of Greece, Visvikis moved to Paris in 1970, where he founded the progressive rock band Axis. The group performed at the renowned Montreux Jazz Festival, and their 1973 album was recorded at the legendary Château d’Héroville (frequented by Pink Floyd during the same period). However, an inner spiritual quest led him beyond the boundaries of rock aesthetics.
A decisive turning point came through the music of Olivier Messiaen, the legacy of Alexander Scriabin, and the study of Eastern philosophy. In 1974, he pursued advanced studies in composition, orchestration, and counterpoint under Julien Falk at the International Musical University of Paris (U.M.I.P.).
Today, Visvikis’s oeuvre enjoys international acclaim. His works are performed in prestigious Parisian venues (Pleyel, Gaveau, Cortot) and across the globe, from the USA and Canada to Japan and Europe.

He is the recipient of distinguished awards, including the Medal of Honor of the French Republic (2014) for his artistic and pedagogical contributions, and both First and Third Prizes at the Fidelio International Piano Composition Competition (2025).
The Maestro’s compositions are staple repertoire in international piano competitions and are published by esteemed houses such as Eschig, Billaudot, and Alphonse Leduc. For many years, he served as a permanent jury member and on the Honorary Committee of the Concours Musical de France.
For Visvikis, music is more than an art of sound; it is a spiritual tool to transcend dualism and bridge the earthly realm with the infinite. This quest is mirrored in his literary work, where he explores the profound link between creativity and spiritual consciousness.

Currently, work is underway on the first Russian edition of his book, «The Intelligence of the Infinite».
